Why do I see a "403 You have no access to this page" error?
Updated over 5 months ago

You'll see a "You have no access to this page" error when you try to access a Start.me page without the correct login. The main solution is simple: make sure you log in with the correct account.

In this article, we'll offer you several solutions.

Solution one: log out and log in again

If you try to access a personal page, and you get this message, please follow this procedure:

  1. Click the Go to homepage button, to open a page you can access.

  2. Now click your account icon (top right corner), and click Account details.

  3. On this page, you'll see the email address you're currently using. If this is not the one you expected, this can explain the error.

  4. Please log out and use the correct login.

Solution two: set different home page in extension

The New Tab extension automatically sets Start.me as the new tab page for your browser (Chrome, Edge, or other Chromium browsers). It also offers the option to set a specific start.me page as your New Tab page. If it points to an unavailable page, you might get the 403 error.

  1. Click the extension icon in the header of your browser.

  2. Locate the options icon in the Extension window (the cog) and click it.

  3. Under Select your new tab page select one of the available pages. This should solve the issue.

Solution three: register your account

When you install one of our extensions, you could have created an anonymous account. If this is the case, you might have created a page, you can't access anymore. Here's how to solve this:

  1. Click the Go to homepage button, to open a page you can access.

  2. Now click your account icon (top right corner), and click Account details.

  3. Under email, you'll see an email address like this one: 660eXXXX881f-3d5638af@dummy.start.me If you see that, please register your account with a valid email address to avoid losing access to your pages. Once you've logged out of an anonymous account, you'll lose access to your pages, which might result in a 403 error when you try to open them again.

Solution four: you've set the wrong page URL in your browser

You can set a default page in your browser as your start-up or New Tab page. If you don't enter the correct URL, you might get a 403 error:

  1. Open your browser Settings, and locate the On Start-up option (Chrome). In Safari, you'll find them under Settings > General, and in Firefox under Preferences > Home.

  2. Make sure you have entered the Start.me domain: https://start.me. If you enter a specific page address (like: https://start.me/p/XXy6Ek/ExampleURL), this might result in a 403 error once you delete the page or try to access it without the proper credentials.

Solution five: you've lost access to a shared page

You may receive a 403 error if you attempt to access a public or team page whose sharing settings have been changed. Page owners can revoke access, archive or delete pages at any time and you won't be notified.

  1. First, make sure the public address is correct.

  2. Next, make sure that you still have access to the page by checking if it's listed in your My Pages. If it's a team page, you'll find the page in the Pages sidebar, under the team name.

  3. Contacting the page or team owner might clear things up.
