There are two ways browsers can load Start.me automatically: as your Homepage / Startup page or as your New Tab page. These are different settings.
What's the difference?
Homepage / Startup page — Opens when you launch your browser or click the Home button. This is a browser setting you configure manually.
New Tab page — Opens every time you create a new tab (Ctrl+T). This requires a browser extension to set.
For the best experience, we recommend setting up both.
Set Start.me as your New Tab page
Install our New Tab extension to load Start.me every time you open a new tab. See the setup guide for your browser:
Mozilla Firefox (requires a third-party add-on)
Set Start.me as your Homepage / Startup page
You can set https://start.me as your browser's homepage so it loads when you first open the browser. This is done in your browser's settings — look for On startup or Homepage in the settings menu.
Detailed instructions per browser are available in our Browser setup section.
Important
Always use https://start.me as the homepage URL — not a direct page URL like https://start.me/p/WrqOnf/. Direct page URLs may cause errors when you're not signed in.
Choose which Start.me page appears first
By default, Start.me displays your first personal page in your page list. To change which page loads first:
With the New Tab extension: Click the Start.me icon in your toolbar, then click the cog icon to open Extension Options. Select your preferred page from the dropdown.
Without the extension: Drag the page you want to see first to the top of your page list in the sidebar.
