To improve your workflow, you can add bookmarks to any local folder or file on your computer.
Instructions:
- First, make sure you have installed our Chrome extension. Without the extension it's not possible to link to local files or folders.
- Locate the Bookmarks widget or Bookmark group you want to add the link to and click the Add content icon (+ sign).
- In the URL field, type in the following prefix: file:/// You use the same prefix for files and folders.
- Add the local location of the file you want to link to.
- Click Add to confirm
Some example links:
- file:///C:/Folder1/Folder2/Folder3/
- file:///C:/Folder1/Folder2/Folder3/filename.txt
- chrome://extensions
Note: start.me does not save the contents of your local file, only the destination. If you use start.me on another computer or device, you will lose access.
