Change the search bar settings

The search bar helps you to get to your search results faster. You can set the default search engine and add custom search engines.

Set default search engine and tab

Instructions

  1. Go to the Search bar and click the World icon on the left.

  2. Click Search Settings to open the list of available search engines.

  3. In the new window, select the default search engine of choice.

  4. Click outside the window to confirm. We will save your preference automatically.

Tip

You can select any search engine as your default search engine.

Instructions

  1. Go to the Search bar and click the World icon on the left.

  2. In the dropdown, click the search engine you want to use.

  3. Click outside the window to confirm.

We will save your preference automatically.

Add a custom search engine

Instructions

  1. Go to the Search bar and click the World icon on the left.

  2. Select Search settings from the list.

  3. In the new window, click the button Add search engine.

  4. Now you can select one of the pre-programmed search engines, like Amazon or Ecosia. If you want to add your own, click Add custom search engine.

  5. Type the Name of the search engine you want to add. Under Search link, type or copy the name of your new search engine. Make sure to replace the search term with %s.

  6. Click Add to confirm and click outside the sidebar to continue.

  7. In the Search bar, select the search engine you've just added, and start typing to begin searching.

Examples of custom search engines

Here's a list of examples of custom search engines you can add. Copy the following addresses, and paste them URL-field, in the Add custom pane. Click Add to confirm.
